What I (and 800+) Other Authors Have Been Reading this Year
Ben Shepherd asked us to noiminate three books we had enjoyed since 31/10/22. Choosing just three from the 30+ books I’ve read in the last 12 months was not easy. In the end I plumped for these. If you want to see longer reviews to supplement the short explanations I gave for my choices you can find them here and here. I have yet to post a full review of John Boyne’s All The Broken Places
Looking at the overall results I found it surprising to see that contributors have so recently read such classics as 1984 and Slaughterhouse Five, books I read in my teens over 60 years ago. Perhaps they were re-reading them. There are other best sellers from the past that feature, among them The Talented Mr Ripley, Rebecca, Where the Crawdads Sing and Jane Austin’s classic Persuasion.
Of books published this year, the authors’ favourite is Yellowface by R.F.Kuang.
I wonder how many of the books listed you have read in the past year. Why not tell me in the coimments. What book(s) have you enjoyed that do not feature in this list? When responding feel free to include a link to your review.
